AMUSEMENTS.

Mi:. J. C. WILLIAMSON'S MCW i, MUSICAL COMEDY CO. The Theatre Royal will be occupied for one night only by .Mr J. C. Williamson'* new Musical Comedy Company. 011 Friday next, with one of the latest don successes, "badv Madcap." The performers, with a few distinguished exception-, such as Miss Celia Ghiloni, Miss Alma Barber, Mr Pat ltathurst and Mr Harry Sweeney, are all new. Concerniii«r the new members of the company anticipation has been stimulated by most favorable accounts. Mr Kenneth, who takes one of the leading roles, is a singer of experience, having graduated in San Toy. Mr Victor Gouriet, Mr Mvles Clifton, and Mr Harold Parkes, all comedians of note, will supply the drollery of the piece. Among the ladies Miss Daisy Wallace, Miss Dulcie Jlurphy, ami Miss Jessica Deane, all of whom come with good credentials, and may be assured of welcome. "Lady Madcap" is a merry play, with the romantic and humorous elements blended judiciously together to the accompaniment of much melody. It is a Lyric Theatre, l/mdon, success, and throughout the colonies is proving a most popular play with theatregoers. Many philosophers have endeavored to analyse this brand of entertainment. No musical comedy ever revealed a trace of that "fundamental brain work" that Kosetti deemed essential to fine arts, yet, whenever a musical comedy is effectively staged, part of the public has to stand at the back of the circle, or get its money returned because there is no more room. The box plan is on view at the Colonial Piano C'o.

"BREWSTER'S MILLIONS " Mr I. 0. It will serve to introduce the popular actor, Mr Thomas Kingston, in a type of character in which he has not previously l»een seen here—that of light comedy. As Monty Rrcwater, who set* out to spend £250,0011 in twelve months in order to acquire another two million*. Mr Kingston has a highly diverting part. A feature of the production will be the great yacht scene. The yacht lies in mid-river, and the lights of the town are seen glimmering in the distance. Presently the anchor is weighed. the land gradually recedes, and the vessel is at sea. The wind whistles through the cordage, heavy clouds gather and sweep across the sky, and the storm bursts in pitiless violence. M will be a very realistic representation i f a storm at sea. The cast will be a particularly strong one Mrs Robert Brough, Messrs -I. B. Athohvood. Oregnn McMahon, Cyril Mackay. Vjvian Edwards, Roland Stavelev, Lawrence Hardinge, Misses Nellie Calvin.
