PROVINCIAL NEWS.
RAHOTU. From Our Own Correspondent. Bush fires are very prevalent about here, and with the high winds prevailing it is feared that considerable damage will be done. Residents who are relying on tanks for their water-supply are complaining of scarcity of water, the long spell of dry weather having rendered that source of supply inefficient. Rain would be eagerly welcomed by many. It has, however, been a splendid season for hay, and some excellent crops have been cut and well saved.
Kaliotu still progresses. A shop is being erected here by Mr. C. B. Simms, contractor, of Opunake, which, it is said, is to be occupied by a Chinese storekeeper.
