The more people they induced to visit the beach the more they would impress oil the people Ihe value of the bre?i(kK water, giving sale water for boating, liatliing, and playing. He looked forward to the time when by a better train service New Plymouth would be made available for camping parties, Kit ham and Stratford business being able to attend to their business during the day and? spend the night nnd .Sunday oil the beach with their families. He could foresee 110 dilliculty in getting a good boating club formed, and he hoped every member would be a live one, to pus,ln New Plymouth to the front as a seasul|e' holiday resort. He thought that on Thursdays sailing races could be held in the shelter or the breakwater Mr Bishop said he had ascertained that tin* Clifton Kerning Club would lend a boat 1 ' to any New Plymouth clul) crew desirous of competing at the Taranaki regatta at Waitara. Several of the memliers were quite prepared to enter, and to use big whaleboat al the harbor for training purposes. There was nothing to prevent the club arranging a carnival or regatta for the end of March.
Officers were elected as follows: — Patron, Sir Geo. Gray; president, Mr H. Bishop; vice-presidents , Messrs W. T. Jennings, M.P., H. Okev, M.P., Captain Hood., his Worship the Mayor, H. J J Julian. J. Smith, and T. Knowlcs; com-, mittee, Messrs 0. Parker, T. PmiUiF.i Aroa, English, \\\ Ambnrv, A. Love! grove, and F. Carrington: secretary. Mi' T. M. English; treasurer, Mr C. 0. Rerg.' The election of captain and vicc-cap J tiin was referred to the committee. At the close of the meeting the chairI mnn announced a membership of fiftyfour. ' ,
