CATHEDRAL SERIOUSLY DAMAGED DENSE' RESIDENTIAL AREA AFFECTED. MASSIVE STRUCTURES SAGGING. Received 18th, 12.20 p.m. Sydney, January 17. A serious "creep" in Newcastle has set in in the region of Cathedral Hill, oi which the Anglican Cathedral stands.

The "creep" extends to the business quarter, and affects a dense residential area.

The walls of the buildings are cracked in all directions, whiio the Cathedral is seriously damaged. The cracks are two inches wide in the walls of thd Cathedral.

The stained glass windows hare been wrenched from the casement, bricks being snapped in halve.?. One half Of the massive structure seems to be sagging away from the other half.. The School of Arts Is mncli damaged.
