WELCOME RAINS. Per Press association, Asliburton, Last Night. A welcome change hi the weather occurred this afternoon, when showere >egan to fall, and by 7 o'clock heary rain set in, with every prospect of continuing overnight, at least to all appearances. The fall is general throughout the country, and though it cannot now help the crops, feed and pasture nn^.root crops will be greatly benefited, and it i« expected that store sheep will advance m price immediately. add Welcome Rains Oamaru, Last Night. Rain commenced to fall heavily at 4 p.m. to-day, and continued till 8 o'clock, With prospects of a further fall. The root crops and pastures will be bene- - fited, but the cereal crops without rain promise good yields in most parts of the district above the average. The wheat crops, with good weather, will be considerably above the average, and the oat crops are good.
