IMPERIAL PREFERENCE.
CHECKING THE DECLINE OP BRITAIN'S TRADE. London, January 15. Mr H. Grigg, the Board of Trade Commisloner, reports that the Canadian preference duties are helpfuln in neutralising the United States' geographical advantages in trading with Canada, though they are insufficient to do more than check the decline of the United Kingdom's trade. The preference, however, givs the United Kingdom substantial aid against European competitors.
