BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH. PROPOSED SPECIAL LOAN OF £5200. NOTICE OF POLL. [ HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that a Pull of the Ratepayers will be taken at EAST WARD, The Shop of Mr. S. T. Crocker, corner of Devon and Elliot Streets; CENTRAL WARD, Town Hull, King Street; . WEST WARD, The Resilience of Mr. G. A. Corney, corner of Devon and Mount Edgecombe Streets, On FRIDAY, the 17th day of January, 1008, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., upon the following proposals of the Council—namely, to borrow by way of Special Loan the sum of £5200 at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 per annum, with a Sinking Fund of '/ 3 per cent, additional, the loan to lie repayable on a period ending the firtst day of October, 11)22, and to be for the following purposed:—

£5200 to provide additions and extensions to the Electric Lighting either within or without the Borough and to supply electi'irityr to acquire m connection witli such additions and extensions lands casements and appurtenances and buildings en- . gi ties, machinery, and other things; to pay compensation to any person injuriously affected and any other purposes incidental to or in relation to any of the above purposes.

THE COUNCIL proposes to pledge as a security for the loan of £S<DO and the interest thereon an annually recurring Special Rate of 1y 2 in the £ on the rateable value (on the basin of the annual value) of all rateable property within the Borough and its revenues, rents, tolls, issues, and profits with the exception of all land taken acquired or useci for public abattoir and all buildings erections structures and appurtenances now or hereafter thereto belonging and the revenues, rents, tolls, and profits therefrom and also excepting moneys received or receivable by way of grant from the Government.

THE COUNCIL proposed that the first year's interest, all pre-

linunary expenses incurred in connection with the scheme for which the loan is raised, and the cost of raising the loan to l>e paid out of the proceeds of such loan.
