THE SHEARERS' DISPUTE.
Per Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Tho Conciliaiton Board held its first sitting in connection with the shearers' dispute at Mastcrton on Monday. Re-, preventatives of both the Farmers' Union and the Shearers 1 Union weTQ present, but no evidence was volunteered oh behalf of the former, and the chairman of the Board said they Avould not hear evidence from the other Bid? unless evidence was also given on behalf of the farmers. He suggested that th 0 two bodies interested should hold a cow ference to see if an agreement could be come to, and if this were done the Board would embody that agreement as their recommendation. In the meantime the proceedings of the Board at Napier and Palmerston North would be held in camera, and the evidence would not be used if a settlement wera airived at by the representatives or the respective unions The Board then adjourned.
