Hardstiff was streaky, and in O'Connor's third over was clean howled. Kardstaft hatted two hours and seven minut.'s. and, Ihoiiffh at times uncertain, he I'layed an extremely useful innings, and hit nine foiirers.—Six for 277. Crawford followed, but with five runs added Rhodes was ..napped up \,y the wicketkoepcr. He played a nice innings, lasting So minutes.
Barney joined Crawford, who liit two fine fan ~ .ill O'Connor. Armstrong was > tried in phec of Saunders at .11)0, nnd Noble took the other end nine runs later. O'Connor and Saunders resumed the attack. Crawford completed 50 in a hundred minuted. Runs came steadilv from Crawford, while Humphries kept tip hi* wiekot. MacArtney and Armstrong were tried. The latter in his second over heat Crawford, who playod a splendid and clianeelcss innings lasting 110 minutes. He hit eight fours.
Fiel4»r ran for his first stroke. MacArtney. who was at cover, brilliantly threw in. and down went Humphries' wicket. Humphries batted 63 minute*. The iinings lasted 374 minutes. The fielding to-day was much better than Mi Saturday.

When he hat crept to 17 in 48 minutes Crawford got him lcg-bcfore.—Three for 71.
Armstrong opened vigorously. The deficit was wiped off after 105 minutes' pUy. At 80 a double change was made in the bowling, and Hutching* nnd Rlodcs were resorted to. Armstrong's double figures came in twelve minutes. Two fours by Armstrong completed the -hnndred in two hours. Barnes then relieved Hutching*. Noble reached 50 after he hid been batting 130 minutes. Fielder took the ball from Rhodes. Noßle, when he was 54, put up a ball to cover, which Rhodes scarcely reached. Each batsman scored three in the next over. Fielder had only one over when he had to retire through being indisposed. Braund took his end. Barnes' next over yielded nine runs, each batsman hitting a fourer. Armstrong then made a mighty hit straight over Braund's head. Hutchings-, on the boundary, judged it nicely. Armstrong Iwtted well for 55 minutes, but threw away his wicket.—four for 127.
O'Connor helped Noble to play out time. Noble's defence was masterlv for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
