A fire occurred in Mr. Watson's house of eighteen rooms connected with the Collegiate Schni|l on Saturday afternoon, the upstairs portion WW gutted. A large amount of furniture and valuables was saved, but a quantity of personal efieets, including a valuable collection of Japanese goods, was destroyed. The building was insured for £IOOO in the .Standard office, and the furniture for £OOO in the New Zealand office. The damage to the building is estimated at £3OO, and to the furniture £2OO.
