PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The adjourned monthly meeting >rae held at Kahotu on Wednesday. present: Messrs J. Young, M. Deegan, J. C. O'Rorke, M. Rcvell, I'. Willcox, and \V. Revell. Mr J. Young was appointed cliairmin, owing to the vacancy caused by the death of the late chairman. Condolence. —Resolved, that a letter of condolence be written to Mrs Rothery and family in their sad bereavement; also that the Board place on record the unbiassed manner in which the late Mr Rothery conducted the business of the Board while acting as chairman. Half-holiday.—Resolved, that Wednesday be the statutory closing day in the Road Board District. The minutes of last meeting. were| read and confirmed. Respect.—Out of respect to the late chairman, the Board adjourned for half-an-hour. Ngariki road.—Resolved, that £2 be allowed for felling trees on the upper portion, and Is per chain for scrubbing. Gravel.—The cleric was authorised to notify Mr Qualg that it is their intention to enter his property for gravel on Arawhata road. Puniho road.—Resolved, that the Werekino Road Board's attention be called to tlie unsatisfactory manner in which the rates are being spent. (Wil-cox-O'Jiorke). —Mr Kevell saiu he understood lUOyils of ineial were nuw being procured for repairs. Resigned.—l). Anglesey tendered his resignation as nurfaceman, which was accepted. Arawhata road. —It was decided that a surfaceman be allowed for nine days, as the settlers agree to pay his wages. Rates. —It was decided tu recover rates on the estate of the late Te Wiiiti, through a solicitor. Shingle.—J a--. Rothery was granted permission to take some of the Hoard's shingle, provided he replaces it by the end of January, or pays £1 a yard. Safe.—Resolved, that the sale be advertised for sale at £ll.
Sledging.—R. \V. Bond vtas granted permission to sledge a cottage from the Crown property to the cheese factory, on condition that lie repairs any damage to the road. Vacancy. —The clerk said that no one hail been appointed to fdl the vacancy caused through the death of Mi Rothcry.—Resolved, that the Egmont County Council lie asked to appoint a member. Lease.—F. .Martin was granted the lease of tile road betwen lhaia road and Te Xatnu stream. Ngariki road.—T. Willcox asked to be relieved of a contract on this road. —Resolved, that he be given the option of completing the contract by May 31, or the Board will do the work at his expense. Wards.—The special order re wards and reducing the number of members from seven to six was confirmed. New works.—Tt was decided to call tenders for works on Ihnia road, Wiremii road, Ngariki road, Pungareliu road, Puniho and Opunake. Noxious weeds.—The Hon. McNab Is to be written to drawing his attention to the requests made re noxious weeds, which have not been given effect to.
