METHODIST CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the Whiteley circuit oi the Wesieyan Mcluodisi Ciiurch was held on Tuesday nigm, tlie Kev. T. G. iirooke pnesiding. The quarterly return in connection with Whiteley Sunday School showed that three teachers had left. .Mr Carter (superintendent) made an appeal on hehalf of the Sunday School. The chairman mentioned that at the first Sacrament held at the Sunday school all the scholars had remained, over sixtv oi the elder scholars being present. Mr C. Carter resigned his position as senior church steward, and Mr E. Cliatterton, junior steward, was appointed to the position, Mr J. W. Boon, senr., being elected junior circuit steward.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Carter for his services.

Mr J. W. Boon was elected to represent the circuit at the conference, with Mr C. W. Hooker as substitute. The Revs. T. G. Brooke and H. A. G. Keek were granted permission to attend the conference.

Mr H. White gave notice of intention to submit a motion to the next quarterly meeting with a view of arousing among the young people a keener interest in church work. Hearty thanks were accorded to Mrs Heldt for her Services as sacramental steward for the past seven years, It was decided to ask the sonference to sanction a lease of certain sections of the Whiteley Township for circuit purposes. It was decided to place on record appreciation of the work of the late Mrs Rawson, daughter of the Rev. .T. Whiteley, especially as a visitor of the sick.
