The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,300,000 quarters; for the Continent, «0.),000 quarters; Atlantic shipments, 304,000 quarters; Pacific shipments, 250,000 quarters. MR NEWTON KING'S AUCTION REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday there was only a small sale, small store pigs making 13s Od to 20s, horse £2 10s. At the Mart ducks made Is to 2s 2d, ducklings lid to Is 2d, hens Is to Is 7d, cockerels 2s Id. A quantity of furniture and sundrios sold at low prices.
Fruit. —The new season's fruit is now coming forward freely, and I am holding sales nearly every day Of the week. On Saturday I received a shipment pf over 200 boxes prices for which ranged as follows:—Apples 2s to 4s per box, plums (I2lb boxes) 2s to 3* 6d, plums (201b to 241b) 3s 6d to Gs, peaches 4s to 7s, apricots 6s to 8s 6d, 7s od, pears 4s. tomatoes (1811>) 3s fid to ss, tomatoes (241b) 8s to os, cneumbers 2s to Ss. black currants 8s to Bs, French beans Is to Is 9d. Clients should note that owing to the alteration in tbe Nelson shipping service. I intend holding iilea of Nelson fruit every -Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in my storeroom, James street, beginning from next Saturday, 11th inst.
WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Our sale on Saturday was qinet owing to the Clirfetinas and New Year holidays. There wan-, however, a good entry of poultry and pigs. Fruit for the week has been coming in better. Poultry of all kinds are easier, prices being as under:—Fowls Is 3d to Is fid, pullets Is 5d to Is lid, p.b. black Orpingtons 2s fld to 3s Id, roosters is 3d, cockerels Is lid to 2s id. Pigs—Stores brought from 10s Od to 18* fid: 110 weaners offering. Fruit—We had a small shipment during the week, prices being reasonable. Plums (English) brought from 3s to 4s 6d, lemons Is fld to 2s Od, tomatoes (!« 6d to 8s Od. DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffilhs and Co., dain produce exporters, New Plymouth, arc in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 22nd November, 1907: Butter.—Comparatively mild weather continues, although in some places colder nights are reported. There is no stoppage of outdoor work. Australian: The a.s. Wilcannia and Orient have both landed their goods in fine order. There is a good demand, especially for salted, which is now at a slight premium over nnsnltcd, except in the case of a few well-known brands. The mo3t pronounced feature of the trade at the moment is the very marked improvement in Queensland butter. The arrivals boi'kht oil speculative account Bhow a hai dsome profit. Owners are clearing, am! are sot standing out for the last sli.lling. The agents representing the various factories are doing their utmost to stop the downward trend, but it is difllcult When these low-costing butters are on the market and in competition, particularly where identically the same brands am lx-ing offered. New Zealand: The a.s. Oorinthic ia now due, but up to tbe time of writing there is no word of her docking. Many buyers are enquiring, and wo anticipate there will be an easy clearance as landed. Cheese.—Just steady, but no life fn the trade. In some cases a fraction less Ithan quotations has been taken in ord"r to clear.
