AN ALLEGED BLACKMAILER.
VELTHEIM BEFORE THE COURT. London, January 3. Frank Vcltheim was eharged at the Guildhall with having demanded money with menaces from Jolly Joel. The prosecutor testified that he first saw accused when in dock at Johannesburg in ISM, being tried for murder in connection with witness' brother's death. Witness produced at the Johannesburg trial seven blackmailing letters, which he now read. The hand-writing was the same as that of a letter received in June, 1907, demanding money. This was followed by a draft of £IO,OOO, presented through Dr. Millar, of Antwerp. Witness, since the trial at Johannesburg, had not seen primmer till to-dny. Accused was remanded for a week.
