During December Customs receipts at New I'lyuioutu amounted lo £33*o 16s lid, as against £2/3 a ius lid in December-,, lKuii. Under general taritl tUe amount ol duty paid was £3085 13s 3<l, and preferential larill JC2OI 5s Bd. Exci»o duties were £7l) lUs Id, a decrease as compared with tile dunes received ( ±194 lsj in the previous December, The returns xor the December quarter show a total Customs revenue of £9799 l(is 9d, and excise beer duty £235 12s. In the previous December quarter the amoiiuts were £9097 3s lOd and £2BO 19s.
The net Customs receipts for the twelve months amounted to £38,907 10s 3d, the total receipts from all sources for tho /aaiue period being £41,058 10s 7d. Compared with 190U these figures show a very satisfactory increase. The net Customs receipts for 1900 were £31,087 5s Id, and the total receipts -£33,152 9s fld, or increases of £7870 lis 2d and £7900 la Id respectively. The total value of imports during the past year was £llß,778, and exports—New Plymouth £626,406, Waitara £289,361. The value of the butter exported was £501,746, cheese £82,066, wool £61,723, lamb £18,911, mutton £35,000, beef £115,850, pork £18,063.
