At the Magistrate's Court, Albert Sims, charged with having assaulted a young woman on the main road between Ashburton and Fairfield with intent to commit rape, pleaded guilty. The Australian teachers' cricket team were formally welcomed at a special session of the New Zealand Teachers' Institute this evening. LAND BOARD ELECTIONS.

Blenheim, Laßt Night. The result of the first Land Board election by the Crown tenants under the new legislation were made known today. There were six candidates, and John Duncan was returned by a larae majority. The total votes polled me «481, the number of voters on the roll being 748. Mr Duncan Opposed the Hon. C. H. Mills at the last two elections in the Opposition interest.
