A MAJOR SHOT DEAD. ..iLi Received Jan. 3, 8.42 p.m. London, January 3. Captain Vergoeben, a combatant in the Boer war on the Boer side, wearing ft mask, shot Major Vonschoenebect dead on the latter's staircase in the Allenstein barrackß after the major himself missed fire. Reuter says the evidence points to the major's wife being the instigator. She concealed a mask beforehand. The captain confesses that he committed the crime in a frenzy of 'ove.
