COUNT iiiiLJJEN is a handsome bri o 'iit bay with black points, beautiful conformation, and stands 17 hands high, with a most docile temper, while his breeding is undeniable, being closely related to the great American mare Maud S. (ii.S'/i). A reference to his breeding will show him to be a very high-class stallion, and lie is related to most of the best trottera in America, Judge Belden (imp.) was sired by Elmo (1891), time 2.17; first dam, Pi'entus, by Niagara, time 2.15, sire of Fairmount, time 2.22, and Fanny Maker, 2.15; g dam of the great American marc Maud S., time (high-wheeled sulky) 2.8%; Eimo, sire Como, time 2,26%; Alfred, sire Como, time 2.21; Elma, sire Como, time 2.24; T. C. Lee, sire Como, time 2.15. Mohawk (GO4), the sire of lilmo, time 2.12; was also the sire of Clark's Mohawk, time 2.25; and in turn the sire of Yellow Dock, time 2.11, and many others with 2.30 records. Judge Belden, sire of Count Belden, was sold with a public trial of 2.17, and was the most handsome, stallion that ever left America. At the Koyal Agricultural Show, Sydney, N.S.vV,, he gained First and Champion Prizes three years in succession. , Judge Belden (imp.) is the sire of Bellman, winner of the Auckland Trot, Canterbury Victoria Handicap, and Progressive Handicap ic 1898, and the Auckland Electric rot in 1897. Duke C., out of the same dam as Count lielden (imp.), won Epsom Trot of two miles, time 5.7%; June Handicap and Glasgow Trot, at Auckland. COUNT BELDEN cannot be beaten for getting Carriage Horses and Hackneys of the right stamp, as his size and breeding must prevail in leaving good stock and fast trotters.
