RIFLE SHOOTING.

Per Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The second day of the rifle meeting is proceeding under most satisfactory condition on the l'utiki range. The last range of the Wellington match concluded tills morning. The highest scorers for the match were: Private Frederick (Marton Rifles) 02, Sergt. James (Napier Rifles) 01, Corporal Rashleigh (Palmerston Rifles), Rifleman McLeary (Whakataki Rifle Clubhand Rifleman Kyle (Linton' Rifle Club)" 00, Private T. Marrett (Taranaki Rifles), Rifleman Bcauehamp Mangamahu Rifle Club), Rifleman Hyde, Rifleman Miller, and Rifleman McCalmont (Opaki Rifle Club), and Private MeEwen (Taranaki Rifles) 50. The Wanganui match is now pro-, seeding. At the 500 yds range, Rifleman Atkins, of the Pongaroa Club, put on the only possible. The five leading aggregates at the conclusion of the third match( were: Lance-Corporal Purnell (Wanganui; a member of the recent New Zealand team in Australia) 182, • Sergt.-Major Di'unimond (Dannevirke; also a member of the team) 181, Rifleman McLcay (Opaki) 180, J. D. Smith 176, Bugler Solcr 177. The latter is under la years of age, and his shooting is attracting much attention.

Later. Rifleman McLeay (Whakataki R.C.) won the champion belt, with an aggregate score of 312. Sergt. Morgan (Napier R.V.) was second with 305, and Sergt.-Major Drumniond Dannevirke) third with 304. The other, highest aggregates were: Rifleman Kyle (Lintoirh aiid Lancc-Corporal Purnell (Wanganui)" 303, Capt. Craw (Linton) 302, Bugler Solcr (Wanganui), Rifleman Cameron (Opaki) and Rifleman Willoughbv (Gladstone R.C.) 301 each. Opaki No. 1 won the champion teams match with 1270, Palmerston North 1258, Wanganui Rifles 1238, Opaki No. 2 1208. Private Frederick was top scorer In the Wellington match, and Rifleman McLeay occupied a similar position in the Wanganui match. The meeting was a record success in every way.
