BOOKMAKEKS AT PAUIERSTON. Per Press Association. Palmerston Xorth, Last Xight. At a special meeting of the committee of the Manawatu Racing Club held tonight to consider a letter from Wilford and Levi, solicitors, of Wellington, claiming toe right to any portion of the racecourse, it was decided to allot threefourths of the saddling paddock to the bookmakers to wager in. The committee agree to meet a deputation from the Wellington Bookmakers' Association tomorrow afternoon. Applications from bookmakers for licenses for the first day's racing on Saturday next closed to-day. Eleven were issued.

Bookmakers' fees, ten guineas, and a very convenient enclosure arranged for tlieni." In replv, I>r Findlay telegraphed: "Manv thanks for your telegram. I think it is vcrv atiitifying to see that the riiristchurcl, Racing Club is showing ail example to the rest of the, clubs of the Dominion in its treatment of the bookmakers."
