Auckland, Wednesday. An elderly woman named I'runda ' Richard, who resided with her husband in Brown street, Ponsonby, committed suicide by hanging herself shortly after five last evening. She had been ill Her husband went out to get her medicine, and on returning to the house found her body suspended from the corner of the back door by a stran drawn tightly about the neck. A doctor was summoned, but his efforts to induce respiration were unsuccessful. At the inquest the husband stated that she feared the loss of her eyesight. A specialist had said that she Buffered from a peculiar affliction the effect of which was that she feared light. The verdict was that she committed suicide while of unsound mind, ■ -
