Nelson, Moate and Co., J-td., attained their position as the largest importers of tea in .New Zealand by always giving guod quality, and they maintain that it is due 10 their having done so that the average value of tea imported is so much ahead of Australia anil lingland. l!y reports received it is very evident that a large number of country people ■are coming into New Plymouth on New Veal's Bay to attend the ollicial opening of the lteereation Sports Ground. Hverything points to this function being one of the most successful ever held in the place. Nominations for the different items are expected to be very numerous. The bazaar in aid of the West End School gymnasium will be opened at 3 o'clock this afternoon by Mr. H. J. 11. Ukey, M.11.R. The ladies of that part of the town have been working most energetically for a long time past, anil a big success is assured. 'Busses pass tlie school every few minutes, so that towns people can easily attend and aid a good cause. At 0.15 the school prizes are to be distributed by Mr. G. Tisch, and at 7.15 shooting prizes are to be presented.
The Wanganui lliver steamers have ! resumed their summer timetable. Boats leave Wanganui daily, Mondays excepted; Pipiriki daily, Tuesdays excepted; from Taumarunui, the terminus with the Central llailway, every second day— Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The new bath-houses at Pipiriki mineral springs are being greatly appreciated. The water for drinking purposes is, as Dr. "Wolilmann, the Government Balnoologist, pointed out, having an extremely beneheial eJl'cet iu canes of dyspepsia. Mr, George Gri/liths, tailor, Devonstreet, has commenced to book orders for suits for the band contest week. Place your orders early to avoid disappointment.
_ The New Plymouth High School break-uig-up eeretaony will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Parents and friends of the school are cordially invited to attend.
