TARANAKI EDUCATION BOARD.
The Taranaki Education Board met last night. I'resent: Messrs J. Wade (chairman), Adlaui, Tisch, Murison, Moukliousc, Trimble, Kennedy, Faull and Morton. ARCHITECT'S REPORT.
The architect's report stated llial additions to Toko residence were nearly completed, and several repairs were being attended to. Wans had been prepared for additions to the Te Iviri residence. Good progress was being made with the Board's new offices. FINANCE COMMITTEE.
The Finance Committee recommenced thai further enquiries be made concerning the water supply at the Salisbury school; that the subsidy for Tntaraimaka shelter shed be paid; that Uie Newall committee's account for draining the ground be paid when details were submitted; that in reply to their letter asking for small repairs in the out-oflices and for better ventilation in the school, the Oakura committee be informed that the Board expects that the\ant of cleanliness complained of in the inspector's report be remedied, and the school kept in a cleaner state in future, and that with regard to the repairs required, the architect lie instructed to have them effected before painting the building; that the application of the Inglcwnod committee for a £1 for £1 subsidy of £0 Is fid raised for school - ground improvement be granted, the money to be spent under the supervision of Mr Morton.

Mr Morison complained thnt the Stnnley school had not received attention in the matter of blinds, etc., as ordered by the Board. CHAIRMAN'S RETORT. The cbuiriu.iii rucuiumendcd that Hie Kahui school be made a full-time school, and on account of the small attendance at Nguriki, the school be closed, lie recommended that the Department be requested to place the Puniho native school under the control of the Board. He had found that the amount of rent received from the Up.iku reserve annually was now £04:2 Is 4d, and "ii receipt of an answer from the Public Trust, OMcc, Welling!mi, regarding tnu accumulated funds, "he would instruct
the secretary to write to the Minister | as directed at lust, meeting concerning the allotment of an additional Taranakl I ' scholarship. An amendment proposed by Messrs Morton and Trimble, was oar'ricd. that the report be amended bv inserting a clause to the effect that the Ngariki committee be consulted as to whether they have any objection to the school being closed. The report as amended was adopted. MANUAL REPORT. Mr W. 'A. Ballantync, Chief Inspector, reported on the results of the plumbing classes. The thanks of the Hoard were due to Messrs Okcy, Son and Arnold and Thos. Avery, who had each donated two guineas to the technical classes. At the recent Horticultural Society's show in New Plymouth, over a hundred entries were received from children attending the cookerv classes of the-New Plymouth technical school, and the exhibits, which attracted much interest, were very favorably eon',uien(ed on. After recommending accounts for payment, the director recommended an additional bonus of Co he paid to Mr Tyrcr for the extra workinvolved in conneriioii with the technical school and teachers' classes at Stratford.
