On recent form, Ic Kuiti and Hydraulic seem to be nicely placed in the Ladies' Purs*.
Clenullin, who is set to carry top weight in the Christinas Handicap, is stated to be rather backward in condition just at present, and it is. doubtful whether the son of Lochiel can be gut ready in time to do himself justice. Lhlando has a brace of Cups to his credit, and k> in fine form at present. That he can carry weight he proved at Waitara, and he is nicely placed in this handicap. Immolation is also engaged in the Hurdles, but may not oppore Showman in that event.
Trinket performed well at Waitara over seven furlongs, and shaped like a »taycr, and with nearly two stone off her liack may get the extra distance. For the Flying Handicap a good field has cried content. St. Claimer picked up a race at Feilding, and Cyrene ran -eeond to Lord Soult at Woodville. Waihuka notched a third at Takapuna, and lower down the list we find Pearlie and Tarina, who performed nicely at Waitara a fortnight ago. Of tlieir respee tive performances, I think those of St. Claimer and Cyrene about the best. Of the hurdlers, Immolation won at Waverley. Showman at Feilding, and M.Kishen at Waitara. Black Banner was whispered around as a 'dark horse" at the latter meeting, but arrived on the course too late to take part in the. HtirrHrsi. Showman'* performance in the Hack Hurdles at Feilding, when he gave weigh! and a heating to Duleinea," St. Amelia. Te Arai. Pantaloon. Earmark. Liberator, (\i--iopea. and Pardon reads very fine.
111 the Fir,t Welter there is only twelve |H>unds between top and bottom weights, and Fulminator and Bagatelle arc probably the best-conditioned one* of the crowd. Of the candidates in the Stewards' Handicap, Daisy Paul ran prominently at Fcilding and at Woodville. anil Billow showed np well in the Waitara Cup.
I Tlie much-travelled Paritutu is now -triding along nicely at Ellcrslie. He
appears to thrive on hard racing, and must lie put down as one of the cantiron sort. Tlie old horse still retains hi- dash over a mile course, as was evidenced by his running at Otaki an.l Arlington, but he has failed so often over a longer course lately that many aver lie is something of a spent light. (f the handicappers give him a show he will just about pick up a good hurdle race or two before he goes under. .Master Delaval is said to be tlie besl.nnditioned horse in training at Ellersli>-. and the Auckland Cup winner of l'nii; is expected to do big things this -eason.
Sir Ceorgc Clifford's Clanchattan, Bed llain. Fleetwood, and Cuidwife have ar- | rived at Kilcr-lie. anil are said to be i:i good nick.
Auckland'- champion two-year-old, General Sou It. is pleasing the watchers up Xorth. and they confidently look to the -on of Soult to "down" the* Southern I invaders on Boxing Day. Delegate has come on a lot since the A.11.C.'-pring meeting, and should not Ik' long in rewarding Mr. Koulston with a win.

All dins, tlie first of Pallas' progene to race, won a double in good -tvle at Hororata. The two-vear-old Art ill'lie has h«"n taken to Auckland to fulfil cng.i-f ments in classic events.

Grcymouth sportsman, and is entered in .several events at the New Year meeting. add Turf Topics by Moturoa The Hutt trainer, W. Davics, will take about six horses to the Manawatu and Ashurst meetings, and go on to Hulls tor the meeting on New Y'ear's Day. His team will probably include Ballarat, Vosaini, Pardon, Llamvern, Ukraine, and Ancycle. St. Joe put up a slashing performance on Saturday, when he carried top weight into first position in the big race at C'hristehureh. The field included Taragon, Ivanoff, Fireiron, Medallist, and' Mercy, and at the finish St. .Toe was doing his best to witlustand a |game challenge on the part of Paragon. St. Joe will probably be taken over to Tasmania shortly. Tliat veteran mare Petrovna made no race of the Flying Handicap at Chrstchurch, winning easily by a dozen len :hs and carrying her !)al 31b to the end if six furlongs in Imin lfeee.
