SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The Taranaki School Commissioners met yesterday morning. Present— Messrs. Jus. Wade (chairman), W. T. Jennings, M.P., and H. Faull. Apologies were received from Messrs. C. K. Major, M.l*., and F. Simpson, Commissioner of Crown Lands. The Chairman said lie had never had such a Hoard to contend with. It was so seldom that a full meeting could lie obtained. There were matters standing over for consideration at a full meeting, and it was important lalit tiie.se should lie cleared up. Mr. Faull thought that any member absent from throe consecutive meetings (with or without leave) should vacate his seat.
Jlr. Jennings reminded the Hoard that he had foreseen the difficulties that would arise if there were two members of Parliament on the Board, and I 1 id ollered to resign when Mr. Major j V -Is appointed, but the Hoard declined to I ;..!ow him to do so. j SPECIAL MEETING. | Mr. Jennings moved that a special ' : i ting of the Hoard Ik 1 held on Friday, i'-cember 20. to consider the question of transfers and the letter of Mr. Webster concerning the recent sale of lenses. Seconded bv Mr. Faull. and carried. Mr. Jennings asked if the Secretary could obtain particulars of the charges made for renewal leases by Hoards of School Commissioners in other parts of the Dominion.
The Secretary said thai information was already being collated by the Secretary for Education. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Secretary for Education on the matter. PUKEARI'IIE SCHOOL SITE. The Secretary reported that as yet no definiite decision had been arrived at in regard to the Pukearuhe school site.
A TIKORAXGI FENCE. , iTlie Hoard discussed the disposal of I £l3 7s lid, held in suspense account concerning the Tikorangi bridge approaches and fencing.—lt was decided to hand over this amount to Mr. F. Andrews, the Hoard's tenant, through whose holding the road had been deviated, and who had to maintain the fencing of the deviation; the money to life expended in ; ulwtantinl fencing, under Mr. Fault's . upervision, and this payment to reliev the Hoard of all liability in conn ction with future maintenance.
AN ELTIIAM TRANSFER. Miss Jenkins, of Eltham, who holds a farm under lease, applied to transfer two small portions of her holding to her neighlNiur, Mr. ti. Martin, for adjuMmcnt of boundaries. The Hoard ranger reported in favour of tlie transaction, which lie said would lie of great benefit to the transferee. The boundaries of the sections had not been well drawn. Mr. Martin had been compelled to send his milk down a chute, owing to lack of access, but this method had now been condemned.— The ranger's report was adopted.
FIXAXCE. Tlio Treasurer reported a balance oi' £40.3 ISs 7d. and asked authority to pay out £75 for secondary education.— Approved. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £7O Cs. CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS. It was decided that the Board's olliee lie closed as usual from the 23rd inst. to the (ith January, for the Christmas and New Year holidays. TRANSFERS. Transfers wore approved as follows: It. T. Fairweatlier to i'atea County Council, part section 37, Whenuakura; C. Barker to I*. (i. Olron, section ill-, Una and Waiwakaiho; E. A. Bullot to W. .1. Clianoy, part section 480, etc., Xow Plymouth; .1. J. Hills to John Kemp, section 517. etc., Xow l'lymouth; llorliertson and Duddiug to Will. Feransson, section S, block 12, Opaku. •M'veral applications to mortgage were dealt with.

Crockett?, of Fordell, section 2, block 8, Opaku, 1070 acres, at Id per acre; Tjcila Lucy Mossman. of Marton, section 11, block 1, Martierie village, 30 perches, at 2s (id per annum; and section 18, block 2. Tatu village. 1 acre 14 perches, at 2s Oil per annum; May Faulkner, of Wlianganiomona, section 4, block S, Waro, 507 acres, at fid per acre.
REXEWAL. In reference to Mrs. Eraser's lea-e of town section in Xow Plymouth, it was decided to confirm the special resolution offering her a renewal lease, but for ten years instead of twenty-one vears.
