SUPPLEMENTARY SHOW FOR HORSES'. There was a full'meeting of the committee of the Taianaki Agricultural Society hint night, Mr. Ambury presiding. A report was received from the subcommittee set up in connection with the railage of show stock, and it was decided to send the report—which recommends giving guards power to shunt oh* show stock in the event of accident to the animals—to the Department through Mr. Okey, JI.H.IL The protest against Mr. Gus Sole in the draught class at the late show was dismissed. A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to all exhibitors and others who have so generously donated funds to the society. New members were elected—Messrs. J. Heslop, E. J. Mortimer, and F. Schwamm.

A number of accounts were passed for payment in connection with the late show.

The committee decided that the afternoon's competitions for horses be held on Thursday, llitli January next, and the programme as submitted was passed. The secretary Mas instructed to have the schedule and catalogue printed and distributed amongst likely competitors. Arrangements lor afternoon tea were left iu the hands of Mr. Thomson, caterer. The Jockey Club are to be asked for the use of the grounds and grandstand for the afternoon.

U was also decided to ask the Tradesmen's Association to close their premises at 12 noon on the above date, and Messrs. Malone, Sole, and the secretary were appointed a subcommittee to wait on the association on Friday night. A canvassing subcommittee was set up, consisting of six country members, to canvas for special prizes. The programme includes—Maiden leaping competition (hunters' style), pony leaping, 14..2 0 r under (2), leaping competition (hunters' style), tilting at the ring, lady's hunter (ridden bv lady), pony race (half-mile) for ponies 14 hands and under, leaping competition (steeplechase style), champion pony leaping, dual leaping, three-part race, high jump. The prize-money allocated to the above events is on a liberal scale, over CSO being awarded. There is a probability of a leaping competition for members of the North Taranaki Hunt Club, for horses that have not been placed in any show competition. Weightguessing, deck quoits, and other amusements are to be provided. Special train arrangements are lieing made at, if possible, excursion rates." .

It is anticipated that the afternoon's conipetilioiis should compensate the society somewhat for their loss In connection with the late show.
