(By "MotuTOa.")

W. Fahe handled Moosheu nicely when he won the Hurdles at Sentry Hill. One jockey in particular took a big risk at Waitara. Uhlander proved himself a fair horse, by carrying the steadier of 9.4 to victory in the Waitara Cup. Keyis certainly not a stayer. He was bowling along in good style after a mile had l>cen traversed, but the last quarter found him out, and the best he could do was to finish fourth. Billow put up an attractive gallop in the Cup, and should win races this season.

The most popular win at the meeting was that of Trinket, who ran off with the Welter Handicap. The little datight er of Westmere does not fill the eye*' is a weight-carrier, and got the worst of the start, but Pearee rode a patient race behirld the field until a couple of furlongs from home, when she came through with a surprising run, and easily settled Red Star. Trinket won a double at Waihi last month, and may be worth watching. That Fiilniinator is a decent sort he proved when he heat Pearlie in the Flying Handicap. The son of Fulmen came through at the distance, and won without the whip. Hi* best |>erformance this season was registered when he beat Mnskerry on the second day at Rangitikei. Pearlie shows to more advantage over five than six furlong*. Tarina's win in the Sentry Hill Stakes was long overdue. The bookmakers' enclosure at Sentry Hill was a sight for sore eyes. Probably many people did not notice it. This scribe thought it was a cattle-pen, and as for holding bookmakers, why, it wouldn't hold their indignation! An Australian paper reports the dcatli of Subterranean, who, under the name of Submarine, ran successfully in New Zealand in the colours of Messrs. G. P. Payne and E. J. Watt. Subterranean won several races in Australia in the early spring, and was sold to Mr. E. Manifold for a thousand guineas. After being well backed for the Caulficld Cup, he broke a blood-vessel a few days before the race, and had to be scratched. Pneumonia set in last week, and quicklv carried him off. " i

Mahuta is a. certain starter in "the Auckland Cup. He failed to see out the tiro miles in the Xew Zealand Cup, and he will have to gallop fast to win at Auckland. If. Cairns goes up to ride him in his engagements. A final reminder is given to owners that nominations for the Stratford meet. ing close to-night at 9 o'clock. The telegraph office closes at 8 p.m. I beg to remind owners and trainers that acceptances for all handicap events on the first day, and entries for the Iluatoki Plate, First and Second Scurrys at the Taranaki Jockey Club's Christmas meeting, close on Friday, I.3th December, at 9 p.m. A Wellington bookmaker has receivea information from Christchureh that the Racing Conference is in favor of licensing bookmakers on a s.-ale according to the stakes paid at particular meetings.
