NEW ZEALAND'S WOOL EXPORT.
The "Trade Review 1 " has prepared some expressive figures which show how much New Zealand owes to its wool export, and the remarkable expansion in values and quantities since 1901-2. They arc worth quoting in full:— Weight. Average Total Year. lbs. Value. Value 1900-7 .. Ki (.000.57!) 10.57 7,420,727 1005-0 .. 152.705.232 10.45 0.050.103 1004-5 .. 140.880.707 0.05 5.542,182 1003-4 .. 141,1131.000 7.37 4,331,471 1002-3 .. 100,010.003 6.01 4,031,112 1001-2 .. 155,052,503 4.84 3,141,985 The ''Review" remarks that "there is in the latest year an increase in quantity of about 7.30 per cent., and a rise of a little over 4 per cent, in average price, the total value lieing thus improved by both factors. The rate of increase in weight is in the North Island fully 10% per cent., and equal to 21,800 bales. In the South Island, however, it is rather under 4 per cent., and equal to aliout 0300 bales. The total increase is thus equal to about 28,100 bales."
