Christchurch, Friday. There was a fair demand for fat lambs, and prices remained without change, though the sale was rather brisker. Tegs made 17s to 18s 9d; freezing weights, 14s to 16s Od; and unfinished lots, lis to 13s Od. The entry of fat sheep was rather larger than last week. Extra prime wethers made 21s to 22s 3d; prime, IBs to 20s 9d; lighter, 16s to 17a 6d; prime ewes, 16s 6d to 19s; medium, 14s to Ids; and aged, 9s to 13s 6d. The supply of beef was made up of 210 head of useful sorts, the numbers much smaller than previous week. Among the sales were:— For a North Island client, 1C steers at £9 15s to £ll 10s; J. F. Buchanan (Little River), 7 steers at £lO to £ll 3s; J. and J. 0. Coup (Little River), 14 steers at £9 5s to £11; J. Deans' estate (Riccarton), 2 heifers, £9 2s (id and £10; and 1 cow, £B. Other steers brought £6 2s 6d to £l2 2s fid; heifers, £5 17s 6d to £10; and cows, £4 108 to £8; equal to 25s to 27* Gd for prime, and 21s to 24s for medium, per 1001b. Veal calves sold at 4s Gd to 4!)s, according to size and quality. There was a medium entry of store cattle. There was a fair entry at the following rates:—Yearlings, 19s; 15 to 18° months, 2Gs to 295; 2-year heifers, £2 5s 6d to £2 7*5 Gd; 3-year steers, £4 13s Gd; 3-year heifers, £3 ss; dry cows, 2os to £4 10s. The dairy cows showed rather more condition, and priees were without change, selling at £3 10s to £7. There was an average yarding of pigs, and the demand was slack, and prices much lower. Baconers made 50s to 60s (equal to 5d to s</>d per lb) • porkers, 36s to 48s (equal to 5d to s'/,d per lb); large stores, 30s to 355; medium, 26s to 295; and baconers, 15s to 25e. WANGAXTI STOCK MAHKET. Wanganui, Friday. Messrs. Daigelv and Co. sent the following report regarding their Wanganui sale:—1800 sheep and 150 cattle yarded, and there was a total clearance at late rates. Quotations:—Fat ewes, 14s lOd; shorn wether hoggets, 13s 7d, 14s, 14s id, to 15s 6d; woolly ewe hoggets, 21s; woolly wether hoggets, 19s; store cows, 21s to 63s Gd; store heifers, 40s to 43s 6d; cows and calves, £2 17s' mixed yearlings, 24s to 32s 6d.
