The funeral takes phfce this afternoon, ' Mr. Torcpiil Vavasour Mackay, who has been connected with the Napier staff of the Lands and Survey Department for about two and a half years, hue received notice of transfer to the New Plymouth office, for which place he left by Uie express train. Prior to Mr. Mackay's departure, the staff' of the Napier ollice met him in the board-room and presented him with n smoker's outlit, as a slight token of their esteem. Mr. 11. Trent, Commissioner of Crown Lands, made the presentation, and in a I few appropriate words voiced the regret of (he whole staff at Mr. Mackay's departure. The recipient suitably responded. Mr. Mackay's successor will be Mr. Harding, of the New- Plymouth office—Hawkes Bay Herald.
