SUPPOSED YACHTING MISHAP.

The Chief i'ostmastei: lias received a telegram from the postmaster at Takakti staling that a motor yacht left Collingwood ior Farewell Spit lighthouse at o a.m. yesterday with eighteen passengers and crew aboard, including Mr. bean, postmaster at Cgllingwood, his son, and a cadet named Robins. The vessel went aground at the lighthouse, and she was at anchor at 8 o'clock this morning, but at !) a.m. the Farewell Spit lighthouse-keeper could not see any sign of her. It was blowing a heavy gale from the northward, and it is thought the vessel was either swamped or was driven out to sea.
ALL SAFE. Per Press Association. Nelson, Later. A Inter telegram from the postmaster at Takaka says that the yacht Mapu, with all the passengers aboard, had just arrived at Ciollingwood, mid the safety of all concerned is thus assured.
