Prince Buelow protested against such exaggerated and unproved statements, and declared the German army and people were thoroughly sound "to the core. The nation might trust the Kaiser to sweep out with a vigorous broom everything not in accord with the purity of his life and honsr. Prince Buelow stated he only heard of such practices list spring, and was unable to bring them before the Kaiser without proof. It was different with the Crown Prince, whose action he applaudfcd. When the Kaiser mentioned the subject to him, Prince Buelow replied: "Look neither to the right hand nor to the left; think only of keeping the escutcheon of your house and army unspotted." Prince Buelow further denied that the " camarilla" influenced the Kaiser. Such chatter, he concluded, oogbt to cease.
