The Feilding correspondent of the Post telegraphs that the local Jockey Club is being inundated with applications from all parts, from Auckland to Christclmreh, from bookmakers applying to be licensed or asking for terms of admission to the races to he held at the end of this week. Messages arc coming by telegraph, reply paid. It is probable that the club will charge a maximum admission fee of £2O per day, but it will only admit bookmakers if compelled to do so. ~-, J

Christclmreh, Wednesday. Several further cases of trespass at Riccarton racecourse were before the ] Court to-day. Counsel for the hookmakers argued that legislation subsequent to laying the informations showed the Government was opposed to the cases, and suggested that the informations be dismissed and laid again if the club thought fit. The Bench of Justices ultimately decided to adjourn the cases to 11th December, so that the Stipendiary Magistrate who heard the previous eases should adjudicate on these.

TO BE ADMITTED AT MANAWATU. Per Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. The Manawatu Racing Club has decided to admit bookmakers to its summer meeting on conditions to be decided later. PREMIER THANKED BY METHODIST CONFERENCE. Per Press "Association. Napier, Last Night. The Wellington district of the Methodist Church Synod held at Napier, while regretting the legalisation of the bookmakers and totalizator, complimented and thanked the Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, on the passing of the Gaming Bill.
