MILK FEVER IN DAIRY COWS. Copy of letter from' Wanganui Chronicle, 22nd December, 1004:—"ShyAs it may prove useful to other dairyfanners 1 send you the following: On the 10th instunt one of my beet cows calved, her third calf. On the morning ol the 13th she gave me a three-gallon bucket full of milk, and looked tip-top. At 3 o'clock that evening, coming home from the paddock I noticed her body tucked up and hindquarters stiff. ' I tried to milk her,.but the milk was gone. As the above were indications of m ; "' lover, I gave her a dose of Sykc Dieneh, and, remembering to have read that oxygen pumped into the uddtr was n remedy, I got a bicycle pump and with Hie part that fits in the rubber tyre of he bike added, I pumped the four quarters of the udder full of air. We had to
mipport her in Hie bail while doing this. When we left her out she staggered a few yards and fell down, About twenty minutes afterwards, however, to my surprise she was on her feet again, and much lietler. By 0 o'clock that night she was resting comfortably. Next morning at 4.1)0 o'clock she was up and feeding. That evening I got 1511)9 of milk from her, and she is now back to Kt usual flow of milk, and as well as ever she was. I have now had 18 years' dairy-farming, and have seen cows die, and cows recover in time, but in this instance the quick recovery was simply marvellous.—T am, etc., J.'W. McLarin,' Waverley, 18th December, 1904." Use only Sykes's Drench, because it is the best. Price la Od packet or 10a .by the dozen. Better buy it by tha Wilts for JJooklat. >, • >"
