GALLANT RESCUE.
Per Press Association. Whangarei, Monday, Two young ladies bathing at the mouth of the Matapouri river were carried oil their feet by the rapid tide into deep water. Mrs. Pullman, who was bathing with them, went to the rescue. She caught hold of them, but could not regain the ehore. Mrs. Clements, who was riding past, dismounted and plunged in, fully dressed. She got the girls on to a rock. Cries for help brought down. Mr. Clements, who was rafting further up the river. He rescued the women from their perilous position,
