BRITAIN'S DEFENCE.
Received 24th, 4.55 p.m. London, November 23. Colonel Seely presiding at the annual dinner of the Imperial Federation Defence Committee, urged the'reconstruction of the Committee, adding representatives of both political parties and, tlie colonies.
General Hutton said he regarded Mr R. B. Haldiuie's (Secretary for Warl and Lord Tweedmoutu's (First Lord pf the Admiralty) adoption of the pririS. pal of co-operation in matters of defence as highly important.
Mr Gilbert Parker thought nuir« practical work was accomplished by the Colonial Conference on the military than on the naval side. Colonial naval defence ought to be proportionate to their growing wealth.
Mr Harold Cox said the colonies and the Motherland ought to make a fair bargain. It was unfair to leave the whole burden to the Motherland.
