Afternoon tea was provided and dispensed by the ladies. A sharp wind blowing across (he green at times proved a disagreeable element. The president of the club (Mr. W. G. Malone) said he felt proud of the position which he held, and was glad to bee siwh a large assemblage, lie thought that those present would agree with him when he said that the club, with its combination of games was a model one. lie felt mire that it was much nicer fur tin; member* of a family to meet on a ground where they could play their respective games than for some to be at one place and the others elsewhere. He had during the past few days found out that in early times the game of bowls wats illegal in England and was forbidden by Act of Parliament to be played, and was looked upon not only
u- a but a dishonorable game. Re deeply regretted that Mrs. Malone | wa-i unable to attend to "throw the jack," but Mrs. Paul had kindly consented to do so. and the member-, lie j was Mire, felt greatly honored to have that lady's presence. In conclusion. Inhoped rlie club would be the means of promoting real good fellowship and friendship amongst all. Mr*. Paul then "threw the jack" and declared the green open, amidst the plaudits of all present. Mv.
