_ HERS SUNK OVER SIX INCHES. London, November 20. Mr Mervyn MacArtney, architect, assertei that eight of the piers supporting ot. Pauls dome have sunk, some over six indies and others less. [lt has been known for the past year or more that the foundations of St, Paul's Cathedral were sinking. One theory of the cause of the subsidence is that the foundations beneath the great dome are on a sandy formation, and that the sand beneath is gradually slipping away towards the Thames, where a good "fall" lias been provided for any percolations by the deepening of the Thames channel.]
