The Intelligence Department ie dealing with the discrepancy between its figures and those published by New Zealand with reference to the movements Of population between the two countries. It is pointed out that there is Hot likely to be any agreement until i common basis of population is adopted. At the same time, the Department is Confident that its own figures are correct. Doubtless, it is said, many people pass through New Zealand and return (o Australia by other routes. The Department is assured that New Zealand landowners are selling out in considerable numbers and coining to New South .Wales in search of land. Many of them flisit the Department. Whatever the cause may be t the fact is vouched f.jr by the Department.
