DISPOSAL OF COAL OUTPUT.
Per Press Association. Wostport, Last Night. A deputation of townspeople, headed l>y the Mayor, waited on Mr. Kcece, chairman of directors of the WestportStockton Coal Company, to-night and urged that he place before his fellowdireclors the question of keeping the company free from agreement with the Union Steamship Company or any other company, so that coal could be quoted f.o.b. Westport, and any ship that came along could get a cargo". The Speakers deprecated a monopoly as against the interests of the district, and urged Mr. Recce to do what he could in the matter, consistent with the consideration of the best interests of shareholders. In the course of his reply Mr. Rceco pointed out that only one shipping company was visiting all porta of the colony, and .that must lie laken into consideration, lie expected a large portion of his company's coal would lie shipped outside the Dominion, but he would place the representations of the deputation before the meeting of directors.
