PARLIAMENT.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Tn the Council, which met at 2.30 p.m., the Council agreed to insist on one of its amendments to the Public Health Art which the House had disagreed with.

The following Bills were reported from committee and passed: —Manio-J tolo Hospital and Charitable Aid, Waipawa County, Waipawa Borough, Auckland Harbor Board and Birkenhead • Borough Empowering, Hutt Park, Dunedm District Drainage and Sewerage,: Makara Comity, Greymouth Harbor Board Loan, W.i'rau Harbor and Gis- ■ borne Harbor Board Loan. I The Council adjourned from 5 till 7.30. The Council resumed at 7.30 p.m. The Stock Act Amendment Bill was put through its final stages and passed. I The National Endowment Bill was put through its final stages and passed. The Public Service Superannuation Act was taken in committee. Progress was reported. The Attorney-General announced that 'u' Judiciary Bin was noi to be proceeded with tuis session. The Bill was discharged from the order-paper. The Council rose at 9.30 p.m.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. In the House, the Premier, in reply to Mr. Gray, said he thought by sitting each morning at 11 o'clock they should lie able to get through the business of the session by Saturday evening. The 'Bills he proposed to go.on with were the Native Land Settlement, Gaming and Lotteries, Government Railways Department Classification, Christchurch Drainage Act Amendment, Water Supply Act Amendment, Railways Authorisation, Shops and Offices Act Amendment, Fire Brigades and Animals Protection Bill. Tn the latter, he said the contentious clauses would be dropped. The House went into committee on the Native Land Settlement Bill, and the House adjourned at 5.30. - In the House the Native Land Bill was put through committee. The Minister formally moved the third reading. The debate is proceeding.
