A MYSTERY. Sydney, November lii. The victims of the Hotel Metrnpole tiagedy were a Cowra solicitor named Lister King and his wife. Both were well connected. They arrived at the hotel yesterday morning. The husband left * pathetic letter referring in endearing terms to his wife. He states that he gave her pnissic acid. As it failed to have much effect. lie (hot her. He then took poison. He woke np two hours afterwards, swallowed a glass of brandy to steady hi-! nerves, and wrote a letter describing the awfulness of waking from death. His statement concludes: "My dtrlin" it in heaven, bat she will not have lons to wait, as I am going to shoot mvseff ftnd join ber."
No reason is given for the tragedy.
