The woman's body was recently found under Kerr's cellar, as the result of a revelation made in a trance by a spiritualistic medium named Staples. The jury disagreed and Kerr was discharged. As the result of a mistake in signalling, a passenger train collided with a goods train at Laverton. One passenger was severely injured and several others slightly.
