WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present—Messrs S. Turnbull (chairman), Messrs. Connett, Smith, Western. and i'uie.

Correspondence was read from Jlr 0. (i. Herrick, requesting permission to fence land at the junction of Waitara and Te Arei roads, and also complaining of stray stock on the roads; from Treasury, notifying that Davis road was now available, and forwarding papers for signature of Waitara road loan; and from Audit Office returning balance sheet for last year duly certified. The question of fencing in land adjoining Waitara road was left in Mr Smith's lianil to arrange with Mr llerrick.

It was resolved to appoint the two surfacemen. .Messrs Paul and Palmer to impound any stock wandering on district roads.

Mr Wills attended the meeting and requested that any money to the credit of Lepper road, be expended on metal.— Left in Mr Connett's hands to arrange with Mr Cirtwright. Surfaceman W. Palmer reported he had arranged with Mr Cartwright to deliver 140 yards of metal at (is (id per

yard for repairs to Waitara road, anil had put on 1 'l~> yards; a pipe culvert had also lieen put in on- the upper end of the same road.

Surfaceman S- Paul reported he had made a new road into Mrs Monro's gravel pit, and had also repaired the Te Arai road. About 50 yards of metal was required for repairs to Brown road, 50 yards for Wortley, and 20 yards for the hill on Richmond road. About five chains of Richmond road required reeoating.

The surfacemen were directed to get Session Terrace harrowed, also to expend up to £lO on rep virs to Tait road. Re-allocations were made to the several roads, each road in most cases) having the rates and subsidy on same. It was resolved to expend the sum of £7O in re-coating a portion or Lower Te Arai road, it being understood that no money was to be spent on that road next year.

The clerk' was directed to draw up specifications for supply of metal for repairs and re-coating Te Arai, Brown. Richmond and Wortley roads, tenders to be in by next meeting, j Accounts amounting to £7B were passed for payment and the Board rose.
