THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL Wellington, Last Night. In the Council, which met at 2.30 p.m., the Factories Act Amendment Bill was' further considered in committee. | A new clause making it illegal for any Asiatic to work 111 a laundry ex-! cept between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.lll. was carried by 13 to 8. The Council adjourned at 5 p.lll. till 8 .p.m. I The Council resumed at 7.30 p.lll. Progress was reported 011 the Factories Act Amendment Bill. The following Bills were put through their final stages:—Railways Improvement Authorisation Bill, Butter Export Bill, Hospital and Charitable Institutions Bill; Defence Act Amendment Bill, Local Bodies' Loans Act Amendment Bill. The Council rose at 10 p.m. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
In the House, the amendments made by the Council to the Sea Fisheries Bill were agreed to. The Post Office Act Amendment Bill was read a third timt and passed. The Rangitatau. Block Exchange Bill, Taieri Land Drainage Bill, Fisheries Cqnservation Act Amendment Bill, Canterbury College Endowment Bill, Education Act Amendment Bill, and the Public Health Act Amendment Bill were read a second time. The House adjourned at 5.30 p.m. In the House, the Taieri Land Drainage Bill, Fisheries Conservation Act Amendment Bill, Education Act Amendment Bill, Public Health Act Amendment Bill, Post Office Classification Bill, Otago Presbyterian Church Board of Property Act Amendment Bill, Statutes Repeal Bill, and Parliamentary and Executive Titles Bill were put through committee stages and reported.
