The engineer considers that the Fitzroy extension should be carried out as early as possible, as power will be required at the chilling-rooms when erected. The duplication of the transmission lines can be carried out only in the summer monthsj and should be in hand now. The £2OOO for private lighting stock is rot so urgently required. There is no doubt that it will all be wanted, but if authority is obtained it can be expended as required. In the Fitzroy extension 25 poles lta\e been allowed for extensions off the main road. The transmission line proposals allow for a line with double the capacity of the existing line. With tho present load the loss is about 20 per cent of the I'pergy generated. By doubling the , load on the lien the loss would be 35 pel cent. But the new line would reduce this to about a third, or 12 per cent.
The Council decided to refer the matter back to the committee for further information, principally thy estimated earnings from sale of power and light. 1 his information will be supplied to councillor: before the next meeting, r*«d then the proposals will be fully discussed
