WOO NEWCASTLE EMPLOYEES IDLB DISASTROUS EFFECT ON COAL TRADE. Sydney, November 13. A mass meeting of miners will be held to-day to discuss the trouble. The proprietor* will meet on Thursday. , The trouble is already having a disastjvua effect on Newcastle trade. The harbor is full of vessels waiting for cargoes, but no coal is available. A stiff advance in the price of coal is anticipated. All hope of effecting an amicable settlement of the mining dlmculty seems for the present at any rate, to have vanished, and a general strike will comirence to-day. It w expected that all nines in the northern district will be idle.

At the mines at which work was resumed yesterday the men were under the impression that, for their working wilee days, all the wages, amounting to 4.25,000, would be paid. A further effort will lie made to reach ft settlement. The member of I'irliaBsent (or the district is endeavoring to fvlmulate proposals to have the questions in dispute submitted to the Premier, who is understood to be willing to •ct as mediator or arbitrator.
