The barque Bengairn, which left Newcastle for Antofagasta, in Chili, on Novemlier 2nd, was towed into Sydney in a crippled condition. The l,arquc had a thrilling experience, on the eo ist. After making the oiling, she encountered a terrific gale. The cargo shifted, and the barque, with a great lurch, went on her beam ends. Great seas thundered all over her, the hatch coverings started, and water brean to find its way Itelnw. The masts were cut away to save the vessel, which was 300 miles off the roast at times, but managed to make the coast safely.
