ARBITRATION COURT.
COOKS AND STEWARDS' AWARD. Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night, flic award of the Arbitration Court in the cooks and stewards' dispute was made public to-day. It applies only to steamers running fvoro Auckland, Onehunga, or Kaipara, and takes eilcct from lnt December. The steamers are classified as follows:-Those of 401 tons not resistor and over, in class A; those or Jjl tons and up to 400 tons, in class Ji; those of 150 tons and under, in class.U '['lie provisions in the award of 2&nu .May, 11)07, between the union and the I'nion Steamship Company arc to apply to steamers included in class A, and other steamers which shall hereafter be included in that class. The minimum wages in class J! are as follows:—Second stewards £5 10s per calendar month, stewards' assistants £4, forecabin steward £4, pantryman £4, chief cook £lO, cooks' assistants £4, cadets £2. In class C, stewards' assistants ,£4, cooks £8 cadets £2. No second stewards shall be recognised unless three or more stewards or stewards' assistants (including chief stewards) are employed.
