RAILWAY STRIKE AVERTED. SUCCESSFUL INTERVENTION.

The King had interested himself in the matter, and the reWilt must be communicated to His Majesty before the terms of settlement could be announced.

CONCILIATION BOARDS TO BE APPOINTED. WITH APPEAL 10 AN ARBITRATOR. Received Nov. 7, 11.23 p.m. London, November 7. The compromise in rwpect to the railwaymen, secured through the instrumentality of Mr. Lloyd-George, consists of the appointment of a conciliation bo«rd for each group of employees of *wy railway, and on large systems of sectional conciliation boards representing groups, and 'n the event of disputes regarding hours and wages remaining Unsettled, the matter is to be referred to an arbitrator chosen bv the Speaker and Master of the Rolls.' The Conciliation Boards will represent the masters Md the men. The election of the men's representatives will be conducted by the Board of Trade, and in the event of dispute* remaining unsettled in a district or by the sectional and Conciliation Board*, the matter will go to the control of a' board composed of representatives of the company concerned and of the Conciliation Boards for all groups, and so M a Anal resort, will be laid More the' arbitrator.
